Bronx, NY - Jul 1, 2008 Terrance "The Heat"
Cauthen (32-4 9KO's) looks to get back on track and put himself back into
world title contention when he takes on the dangerous up and coming knockout
artist Alexis Camacho (16-0 15 KO's) on July 16th from the Municipal
Auditorium in San Antonio, TX. The Cauthen v Camacho fight will be the
ESPN2's "Wednesday Night Fights" 10-round co- feature to the Delvin
Rodriguez v Oscar Diaz fight for the vacant USBA Welterweight Championship.
Cauthen, the current USBA Jr. Middleweight Champion, and former NABA and
NABF Jr. Welterweight Champion, is coming down in weight to fight at
Welterweight after spending the past three plus years campaigning at Jr.
Middleweight. The southpaw Cauthen feels that he is best at the 147 lb.
limit and is ready to make a push towards a world title in the extremely
exciting division. The 1996 U.S. Olympic Bronze Medalist, feels that this is
not only a great opportunity get back to his winning ways, but also a chance
to once again showcase he is still one of the top fighters in the world,
particularly in the welterweight division.
Camacho, although against limited opposition, has looked impressive each
time out steam rolling through his competition. Since his professional
debut, Camacho has gone on to knockout everyone that's been put in front of
him, including 14 of his opponents in three rounds or less. This is a huge
step up for the 27 year old Mexican native, now fighting out of and living
in Austin, Texas. It will be the first time Camacho will be fighting on
National T.V. and a chance for him to live up to his hype and prove that he
is the real thing.
"What an exciting night of boxing it's going to be on the 16th," stated Star
Boxing CEO and founder Joe DeGuardia. "Both the co-feature between Terrance
and Alexis and the main event between Delvin and Oscar have the potential to
be fight of the year type matches. Terrance is coming back down in weight to
campaign at Welterweight and I honestly believe it's the best thing for him.
This is a true crossroads battle as you have two fighters who are both
looking to prove that they belong among the elite in the hot Welterweight
division. We expect San Antonio to be rocking on the 16th and we are very
excited how the card is shaping up so far," said DeGuardia.
